This book was fantastic. I finished feeling excited at the prospect of a sequel, but also mildly annoyed that I couldn’t start it right away. I highly recommend this book.
This graphic novel made very little sense. The characters did not feel real. Rather, they read like avatars of lessons that the author wanted to teach the middle schoolers. This is disappointing, because the first book that I read from this author was much more enjoyable.
I continue to enjoy these mad cap fantastical summer camp comics, especially with the hints of the larger plot arc emerging.
I loved this book. It has a common set up of a binary magic system that the main character books against and others learn from. I cannot wait to read the sequence.
From the art on the cover, I thought this was intended for a younger audience, which made for a bit of adjustment necessary. I did not think this was bad; I just did not engage with it
I accidentally read book 3 in the series before book 2, but I still think this is an adorable babysitters club style book which has one of the characters figuring out how to balance unexpected hurdles with the life that she thought she wanted.
This second graphic novel adaptation in this series, did not really work for me. The characterization of Cinderella made Cinderella incredibly unlikable, and thus the plot became a chore to get through. If more novels are adapted, I likely will not read them.
Having heard rave reviews and experienced this author’s other work, I looked forward to reading this book. Unfortunately, my experience felt rather mediocre as O’Neill does not really delve into any sort of characterization for the main character.
Aspects of this story were cute, but some of the interactions between characters made me feel like this was a sequel of some sort, and prevent prevented me from really engaging with the characters.
This was a cute yet mildly stressful opening to a middle grade manga about a girl in Japan, who wants to rise above what others think is the highest that she’ll go by competing in a singing/talent competition. I would not recommend reading a lot in a row, but I will definitely continue in this series.
I did not enjoy this book at all. The premise stretches the suspension of disbelief to the point of breaking right from the start. When that happens, it’s game over. I finished the book because it reads quickly and because I could complete it easily but not because I enjoyed it.
I think I enjoyed this book, but I’ve not decided if I will continue or not. Something about the way that the mangaka told the story made it jump around which confused the narrative to me. I also am not 100% sold on the main character.
The mangaka hooked to me from the start. Even though this manga is very popular on book tube and I’ve heard a lot about it, I still found the narrative and story personally captivating and enjoyable.
