CRAW Region 9 Week 2 – After the COVID Intermission

I kept up the run streak through my COVID infection and focused on building the miles back up little by little through the next week. Thus, I did not write any entries for those weeks. This week I plan to continue the slow build and perhaps add speedwork back next week.

Monday, 50 minutes, 5.72 miles, spin bike, 15.9 miles, .58 miles walking
Temperatures reminded me of summer when I went out for the run. The hills, especially at the beginning, felt incredibly hard. I did not let that discourage me, however, since I knew that I have not really run hills (save for my “long” run with Mom two days before this) for three weeks or completed many squats. I finished the run eager for even more hills.

Tuesday, 50 minutes, 5.66 miles, spin bike, 10.9 miles, .31 miles walking
Even though I said that I finished Monday’s run eager for more hills, I did not feel like running the hills today. Thus, I headed inside to the treadmill. Through the whole run I felt super strong and grateful for the ability to run.

Wednesday, streak mile, 1.43 miles, spin bike, 16.2 miles, .32 miles walking
I stayed too late after tutoring and had to rush to get in my workout. I headed straight out for a quick mile and then hopped straight on the bike when I got home. Felt great!

Thursday, 58 minutes, 6.45 miles
Severe weather rolled through the area during the last third of the last class of the school day which meant sheltering in place because of the tornado warnings and quite chaotic and delayed dismissal. That definitely factored in to when I got to start my run. I thought I would have to complete my run with the camera off while my grad class started but the professor delayed the start due to the weather. Then I somehow got so caught up in something that I ran right past my original plan of 5 miles or 50 minutes. I heard the professor start the class and wondered why he started early. Whoops. I will take that for sure. I felt good enough that six miles felt like five.

Friday, 4ish miles, 4.64 miles
I wrote a post about this that will come out in a couple weeks. Once that goes live, I will link back here.

Saturday, long run, 9.31 miles
Originally we had planned on 10 miles. Unfortunately, we got started later than planned so we ran around Mom and Ellis’ subdivision rather than drive to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. This meant that we had a lot more hills involved so we ended the run at 9 miles rather than 10. I really did enjoy the hills though, as crazy as that sounds.

Sunday, streak mile, 1.92 miles
Nice and easy to keep up the streak.
