GVRAT 1000k Week 16 – Almost There

Monday, 50 minutes, 5.71 miles
Started in the dark-ish but ran most in early morning twilight. Felt strong and ready to get this “party” started. I felt so much better overall and I have no idea why.

Tuesday, 50 minutes, 5.76 miles
Again, I felt great on this run, so much so that my split for my second mile about knocked my socks off, figuratively of course. I focused on maintaining an even pace and really enjoying the run while I was out there. I also enjoyed the slightly cooler temperatures.

Wednesday, 25 minutes, 3.04 miles
After a long day with my regular kids, my session with virtual kids and then the first in person grad class for this semester Tuesday, I did not feel as peppy to start the day as the first two days this week. Instead, I focused on steady pace, let myself walk at the miles breaks and finished well.

Thursday, 50 minutes, 5.48 miles
On this run I remembered that my runs towards the end of the school week tend to feel so much harder. I will need to keep that in mind going forward to figure out how to sustain my training. On this run I just kept plugging away and got in the miles.

Friday, 40 minutes, 5.01 miles
I did not realize until moments after I finished that this run marked the 100th day since I started this run streak. Mom came to my side of town so we ran together for the first time this week. I really enjoyed the run and felt a bit more invigorated since I took the morning really easy (didn’t have to go in to the school building).

Saturday, long run, 12.89 miles (1.45 miles walking)
Both of us felt a little fatigue in our legs but when Mom mentioned it, I shared with her my plan to concentrate just on the mile we were in, the rest of the run. A couple times she had to remind me to slow down. Whoops.

Sunday, 25 minutes, 3.76 miles
My legs felt really tired through this run so I just focused on steady pace. I found myself quite surprised when I saw my split for the second miles, 8:56. Whoops. My right inner thigh also felt sore so I will pay close attention to that so that soreness is all I get, nothing more.
