Travelogues Grand European Adventure Day 6 – A Little Lost

The passage of time has blurred my memory of the day and my journal lacks any more concrete details to help revive the memories. I remember feeling relaxed and enjoying the easy pace even as I got an exercise in map interpretation and navigation skills with the product of creative cartography.

running

A Decade on the Run

I have found a lifelong pursuit. The longer I run, the more I hope to keep running for as long as I possibly can. My once fast and furious goals have given way to a deep persistent thrum of running for years. This has become my number one goal, surpassing all other time or distance goals. I cannot wait to see what the next ten years on the run will bring.

Travelogues Grand European Adventure Day 5 – Visiting Heidi and Sir Ulricht

The wandering did yield one highlight. Upon striking up a conversation with another American on the tour, she lavished compliments on my t-shirt. I wore my Dr. Who “we’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?” shirt. It’s always nice to find another Whovian.

Thinking About the Next Steps

When you reflect on your teaching practice with the goal of becoming the best educator you can be, you learn to look at the whole child, to see their needs and their strengths. You learn how to help them and hold them accountable. If done right, you cannot help but become intricately invested in these amazing human beings.

Travelogues Grand European Adventure Day 4 – Zurich, not to be confused with Munich

Often while planning this trip, I used the names of the title cities interchangeably, even going so far as to put the wrong name on the itinerary I left with Mom so she would know which European city’s time zone to enter on her clock. Thankfully, I did get to see and enjoy both cities.

Get Out Greenville 10k 2019

This morning I realized that my legs still felt the effect of first real speedwork session in over a year (way too long) run less than two days prior. (I had to run after school and a Youth in Government meeting.) This both excited me and tempered my expectations for the race.

Travelogues Grand European Adventure Day 3 – Fun with European Locks

I got to wander through Old Town with its cobblestone streets on my way to the Place du Bourg-de-Four, a square that served for centuries as a town square for centuries during medieval times and a forum during Roman times. Give me an Old Town and I’m in heaven.
