CRAW Region 3 Week 1 – Juggling Everything

Monday, 58 minutes, 7.02 miles
Every day this week will require a run squeezed in between school and something in the evening, at least through Friday. I came straight home and used the treadmill at the house. I bumped up my pace a little and felt strong throughout. I also skipped any walk breaks in this run as well and had no trouble with that at all.

Tuesday, 58 minutes speedwork, 7.23 miles (.52 miles walking)
I really like this new routine, especially since I can tell that the work pays off. I pushed today’s intervals at 90% effort like the past two weeks. Not only did I feel strong but I shaved off a few seconds on the average pace for the intervals!

Wednesday, streak mile, 1.39 miles, stationary bike (8.74 miles)
I felt strong on the mile and really wanted more but had no time. After tutoring a student at the library, I headed to the gym and pedaled out several more miles to get closer to my goal of 400 miles for this CRAW region.

Thursday, 58 minutes, 6.79 miles ( miles walking)
The pace felt tough at first. I could not figure out why but gave myself a goal to get to before I decreased the pace. By the time I got close to that, the pace no longer felt difficult. I felt strong and motivated by the CrossFit videos I watched.

Friday, 58 minutes, 7.06 miles
I ran inside today for no other reason than I have this toy behind me while working. Plus, I can watch CrossFit videos for motivation. I felt incredibly strong today as if the strength training I did a few hours ago primed my legs to perform.

Saturday, long run, 14.79 miles ( miles walking)
We ran a “half marathon” today on a day when in other years we would pin on a bib and run with several other people in the Spinx half, the race that served as the start of my running career. In the world of 2020, the race has gone virtual; we saw many other runners out on the Swamp Rabbit Trail with bibs pinned on completing the virtual race. We ran our half marathon without having to pay the fee however and enjoyed the magnificent weather. While Mom probably thought tit was too cold, I absolutely loved it. I felt strong while I ran, my fitness never taxed. Around mile 11 or 12 my right glute and hamstring felt a little tight and afterwards my right ankle felt tight. This tightness, however, never changed my stride and may have come due to my ART appointment last Thursday getting everything back aligned. Even though I stopped at 14 miles (on the run portion) I felt like I could do several more miles and wanted too.

Sunday, single mile 1.26 miles, stationary bike 12.22 miles
As much as I want all the miles, my muscles have let me know quite definitively that I need to rest after all the strength training I put in Friday. I kept the single mile for the streak nice and easy and the same with the stationary bike.
