CRAW Region 6 Week 2 – Slowing Down a Little

Monday, 70 minutes, 7.73 miles, spin bike, 20 miles
Mom and I got to run together since we both had the day off. I love Monday runs. My legs feel so fresh and solid. They did not disappoint today. Although I would have loved for the temps to have dropped just a few degrees more so that my hands would not be in limbo of whether to wear the gloves or not, we had perfect weather. (in my opinion at least)
I felt great on the ride too although I had to stop a little less than halfway through because I got incredibly hungry and had nothing within arms reach.

Tuesday, 70 30 minutes, 4.49 miles, spin bike, 15.5 miles, .61 miles walking
I rode for 45 minutes as soon as I got home to squeeze it in before a Model UN meeting for my high schoolers. After that half hour meeting when I started running on the treadmill, I just felt off. Nothing felt injured. I didn’t even feel tired or sick to my stomach either, just off. I knew that pushing through the 70 minutes would require more mental energy than I had to give at the time so I wrapped it up at 30 and put a few more miles on the bike afterwards so I could keep up my CRAW mileage.

Wednesday, progression run, 7.67 miles, spin bike 11.7 miles, .63 miles walking
I ran at home on my treadmill since I had tutoring directly after school which took up the evening daylight hours. I had some hard effort intervals and they went really well, up until the last one when right at the end of the interval, the belt on my treadmill stopped. Again. Good grief. I grabbed my headlamp and finished the run outside before hopping on the treadmill to squeeze in some miles there.

Thursday, streak mile, 1.27 miles, spin bike, 18.1 miles, .69 miles walking
Thanks to my department meeting and my grad class, I had all of 25 minutes to squeeze in a mile and get home to log on for class. I guess my hurry up mode put some pep in my step and I managed to log an 8:25 mile without even trying. Whoops. I later multitasked by keeping my camera off on the zoom class and rode on the bike while listening.

Friday, 70 minutes, 7.58 miles, spin bike, 13.8 miles, .44 miles walking
I felt really good on this run with my mind engaged in crafting an argument that I may or may not eventually write in response to my uncle. I tried to keep the pace easy but I knew that 70 minutes Friday would make my legs not quite as peppy for the long run Saturday. Running outside with daylight always makes the runs feel better though.

Saturday, long run, 12.21 miles, spin bike 20.5 miles
This run passed so quickly. Mom and I did not run out of things to talk about until approximately mile 10. Well, we did not really run out of things to talk about; we just took a little break. I value these conversations not only for the way they help time on a long run pass quickly but also for the fact that they help Mom and I maintain a comfortable conversation pace throughout the whole run. (I really enjoyed the bike too.)

Sunday, streak mile, 1.58 miles, spin bike, 21.6 miles
My legs definitely felt the work I have put into them the past few days. I focused on slow and steady effort on the mile. Although the ride did not pass as quickly as yesterdays did, I still enjoyed the ride and getting in all the miles.
