CRAW Region 6 Week 3 – Still Going

Monday, workout, 30 minutes, 3.62 miles, spin bike, 21.2 miles, 1.55 miles walking
Today would have been the perfect day for my treadmill which is unfortunately not working again. (The part just shipped!) Instead, I headed out as soon as I got home to squeeze in as many miles before dark as I could. I probably could have brought my headlamp with me but with the dark rapidly approaching along with fog and possible rain, I chose the safer path and ran inside. Fitting these runs into my schedule is getting even more difficult as the workload increases.
Oh, the ride went well too.

Tuesday, tempo intervals, 7.48 miles, spin bike, 16.1 miles
Wow. I headed into this workout with a few nerves, wondering what it would feel like to hold the tempo pace. That workout has not been one that I have conquered yet. Well, after today, I feel a whole lot more comfortable. The goal? 6 x .75 mile tempo intervals at 8:24 pace. Throughout each interval I kept finding myself holding back to make sure that I held the right pace. I knew I was pushing but felt so much more comfortable with the pace than I expected. The paces as follows for each interval: 8:22, 8:21, 8:22, 8:25, 8:17, 8:25. Yeah, I think I hit the pace pretty much spot on. Loved it. (Oh…the ride did not feel terrible either.)

Wednesday, streak mile, 1.70 miles, spin bike 25 miles
The mile felt average but I definitely could feel yesterday’s tempo intervals in my glutes. (Yay for getting my glutes to fire, finally!)
I felt really good on the ride too, getting in my longest ride yet.

Thursday, 70 minutes, 7.25 miles (1.11 miles cool down), spin bike, 25.5 miles, 2.40 miles walking
This year has tested me in ways that I could never have imagined. It has forced me to the limits of my emotional capacity and today I reached a near breaking point. I had a horrible, intensely emotionally draining dream that left me adrift. I had to focus on self care and ended up taking the day off because I knew I could not function at work. Hours of sleep later, I felt so much better and able to get out on the run which felt amazing. So did the ride. These fitness things I need. I just need to figure out how to balance everything else.

Friday, 50ish minutes, 5.77 miles, .44 miles walking
Shortly after getting home, I headed out on this run. I debated which route I intended to run and settled on my new loop route that includes plenty of significant hills. Knowing this, I focused on easy effort although my first couple miles did not correspond with a slow enough pace. 8:52 for my second mile? Oops. I did slow down enough in the later miles and really enjoyed it. Oh, and apparently my Garmin did not have enough once I got home and forgot to stop it.

I also enjoyed having a few more minutes to read since we are now in between regions for CRAW so I did not need to ride.

Saturday, long run, 10.70 miles
I felt like running a little shorter today than a normal long run, taking advantage of the gap between CRAW regions. I also learned not to run my hill loop the day before even if I take the pace easy. Overall I felt pretty solid although the time dragged on because Mom and I did not talk quite as much on this run.

Sunday, streak mile, 2.12 miles
It took a while for me to finally get on the treadmill for this run. I took the day easy after a morning spent on the Praxis. (I passed!) Once I got on, I felt great. CRAW Region 7 starts tomorrow!
