GVRAT1000k Week 17 – Wrapping It Up

Monday, 50 minutes, 6.03 miles
I started earlier that I have in a while which meant a lot of running in the dark. Overall, I felt steady with no soreness in my right inner thigh. My right calf felt tight however. I’m glad I got to start the day with the run because life after school does not look conducive to running right now.

Tuesday, 50 minutes, 5.15 miles
When I heard rain, not much but still, I did not want to get out and run by myself in the dark and the rain so even though it added more time I drove over to the gym to use the treadmill. I didn’t get in a cool down but I got in the full run and felt solid throughout.

Wednesday, single mile, 1.01 miles, strength training
I jumped on the treadmill for a quick mile before strength training with Mom. With more limited time now, I plan on doing this to keep up with the streak. Since Ellis had to get out early to a job site, he wrote out a list for us to follow. I think we did pretty well and I think I feel a little soreness at the end day writing this.

Thursday, 50 minutes, 5.48 miles
Just prior to writing this I added up my miles so far and they’re so low! I need to figure out how to get more miles in on the morning weekday runs, probably getting up earlier, because I squeeze in all the minutes I can get and still get to work on time. Today I did not feel like running by myself in the dark so I drove over to the gym. I did not feel peppy at all but fitness wise I felt fine. I hope I will figure out a better schedule soon. That’s the plan.

Friday, 25 minutes, 3.82 miles
I woke up absolutely exhausted. I did not run and could not fathom getting out the door so I slept longer. Definitely the right decision. I have to remember that I cannot burn the candle at both ends and get back to going to bed a little earlier. I ran after school instead which meant that I planned on a shorter run due to the ridiculous temperatures I knew I could count on as well as knowing that in about half a day I would run my long run for the week. Other than feeling completely drained by the sun and the temps, I felt pretty good during the run.

Saturday, Virtual Asheville Half Marathon, 13.76 miles
We decided to run the opposite direction of the route we normally take which helped engage the mind for the long run. I decided to run the half marathon distance for the Asheville half that went virtual. I felt average throughout and on the hills definitely wondered why we decided to go that direction. I got super sweaty, obviously which led to some fun chafing but other than that I felt strong throughout and enjoyed the run.

Sunday, 25 minutes, 3.52 miles
I felt pretty good on the run today, not great and a little bit tired but pretty good. I had thought originally that I would aim for four miles so that I could get my weekly mileage up to 40. Instead, I chose to listen to my body and stick with just 25 minutes.
